In 2007, the AJHS-NEA embarked on a project to digitize all of our current and future collections. A sizable portion of this endeavor has been completed, and many collections are currently searchable in our digital archives. Anyone conducting genealogical research or interested in the history of Jewish education, philanthropy, religion, or social services in the Greater Boston and New England Jewish communities is welcome to use the digital archives. Visit our website for further information on how to obtain a user name and begin your research. If you have additional questions about the digital archives, please email us at firstname.lastname@example.org.
The Society also welcomes donations to help maintain our digital archives. For more information about donating, contact Judi Garner, Director and Managing Archivist of the New England Archives at (617) 226-1245 or email email@example.com.
In addition to the digital archives, the AJHS-NEA website offers other online resources, including a list of finding aids for institutional and personal collections; the database of the Jewish Cemetery Association of Massachusetts; and exhibits. Each exhibit features a glimpse into a noteworthy collection, from a trove of historic photographs of Boston-area families to the Civil War diary of a Jewish boy from Fall River who joined the Union Army at thirteen.
