Economy Grocery Stores

Jacob and Julius Rabinovitz founded Economy (also known as Ecco) in 1914. The stores began to struggle around the year 1918, but when JR and his son Sidney joined they were able to turn business around. As the company grew it acquired several different stores and chains, including the Rose T. stores and the Creamery Stores (renamed Rabinovitz Creameries).
